In the Pulp and Paper Industry you know how difficult it is to find a product that will solve your TRS and NCG problems. Our Stinger products are specifically designed chemicals for NCG removal of solids, liquids and gases. Our testing has proved effective against Mercaptans endemic to the pulp industry, reducing the odor compounds by 98%. These products are safe for wastewater treatment plants and have low toxicity to bacteria. Scorpion Odor-Stinger is safe to be fogged over smelly, odor-producing areas of the pulp mill. Scorpion’s Odor-Stinger and Cell-Stinger can be used to scrub TRS and NCG in any area of the plant. A synergism of technologies has allowed us to create the Pulp-Stinger: which can decrease solids in wastewater systems, scrub tertiary amines & Mercaptans, and even removes turpentine-like odors. Scorpion’s are the products of choice for treating pulp and water waste systems.
Scrubbing of NCG gases with Odor-Stinger can reduce Sulfur Dioxide generation from incineration of gases generated by LVHC systems. Odor-Stinger removes Mercaptans and other Sulfur compounds from the gas stream before it is burned. Scrubbing solutions from NCG scrubbing can then be recycled into wastewater systems and continue treating the wastewater, precipitating colloidal Sulfur and Sulfur polymers. The technology is specific and selective to Sulfur compounds. The result of successfully scrubbing these compounds is not only advantageous for health and safety, but also for environmental concerns as well. Caustic Soda used for scrubbing NCG or Sulfur Dioxides must be disposed of as hazardous waste. Scorpion’s Odor-Stinger is reused to scrub Hydrogen Sulfide and more Mercaptans in the wastewater systems, without hazardous waste generation.
If a pulp-product is to be incinerated, it will have less volume due to denser, drier pulp. This will create more energy (more power) and require less energy to fire the drier cake. Pulp product treated with Pulp-Stinger will also generate less Sulfur Dioxide, as the sulfur compounds would be released to wastewater treatment.
Adding Pulp-Stinger to aerobic digesting ponds increases the water’s oxygen level due to redox cycling and the catalytic action of the active ingredients on a Sulfur compound. The affinity of the Stinger molecule for Sulfur compounds allows aerobic enzymes to be freed from the poisoning effect of the Hydrogen Sulfide and encourages more digestion. Scorpion’s Cell-Stinger and Pulp-Stinger also react with cellulosic molecules, breaking the cell walls and dehydrating the pulp. This provides clearer and better settling solutions. Pulp-Stinger will settle wastes and break the cell walls of cellulose pulp, reducing in size. Nothing else does this.
Odor-Stinger is cheaper than bleach, Ferric Chloride, Ferrous Sulfate, Bioxide or any other Nitrate based wastewater treatments. For gaseous scrubbing, it is as cheap or cheaper than Caustic Soda and more effective than Chlorine or Ozone.
